Birthday Time

Purpose

The purpose of this Policy is to establish the University’s procedure for time off without loss of pay to celebrate the employee’s birthday.

Policy

Regular Full-time employees are granted paid birthday time each calendar year at the rate of 7 hours per year for 35-hour per week employees and 8 hours per year for 40-hour per week employees. New hires are granted paid birthday time in their first year of employment if their full-time hire date falls before their birthday that calendar year. As with vacation, birthdays must be requested at least ten (10) days in advance and approved by your supervisor. Employees are not paid for unused birthday time either at the end of the year or upon termination of employment
