Program description

The Bachelor of Science in Forensic Investigations is an interdisciplinary major in the College of Arts and Sciences preparing students for careers in crime scene investigation. Students in this major will learn the principles of evidence recognition, documentation, collection, and preservation for a variety of different crime scene types. This includes various specialized knowledge in scenes such as fire and explosive scene investigation. Students will also follow the evidence through presumptive testing and finishing with courtroom presentations. Graduates will be prepared for careers in local, county, state, or federal crime scene investigation units or in a growing number of private forensic laboratories, and investigative units with law firms or private investigative agencies.
