Paid student worker program

An hourly student employee is defined as: a student who is a part-time employee and enrolled in classes with the primary goal of achieving a degree. An undergraduate or graduate level student must be enrolled in six (6) credit hours during both the fall and spring semesters and must not be eligible or have exhausted all Federal/Florida Work Study funds. During the summer semester, students do not have to be enrolled in classes, but they must be enrolled for the following fall semester. International students are eligible to be a paid student worker.

Hourly employment is for students who are paid 100% from departmental, grant or foundation funds. All hourly student employees must earn above a 2.0 semester grade point average (GPA) to remain in the student employment program at Lynn University. Work-study students who exhaust their award and continue to work become hourly employees.

Federal Work Study (FWS) Program eligibility

Since work-study is a form of federal financial aid, a student must complete a needs analysis application, the FAFSA, and exhibit need in order for work-study to be awarded. Work-study is frequently awarded in conjunction with other types of financial aid programs in a “package.” This package may consist of various types of aid such as grants, loans, and/or scholarships. Only degree seeking undergraduates students who are U.S. citizens or eligible non-citizens are eligible for the program. Applicants must be admitted to the university as a full-time (twelve [12] credit hours), three-fourths time (nine [9] credit hours) or half time (six [6] credit hours) student during the semester of employment. If a student is currently attending the university, enrollment for a minimum of six (6) credit hours and be in good academic standing as determined by Financial Aid is required. Students are reviewed for academic progress at the close of each year. Enrollment is continuously monitored and verified by the Financial Aid office each semester. Once the student ceases to maintain the minimum enrollment hours required, employment will be terminated immediately and the FWS award will be null and void.

The following criteria establishes eligibility for a work-study program at Lynn University:

  • Student must show documented financial need every year by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Need is determined by an analysis of financial resources available to the student.
  • Student must be awarded Federal/Florida Work-Study on their Financial Aid Award Package (ESAS) each year.
  • Student must meet the Satisfactory Academic Progress for Financial Aid Policy standards as set by the university.
