The early childhood education major prepares students to teach. Students will be prepared to work in an early childhood setting such as a daycare center or preschool and experience aspects of early life. The early childhood educator will learn early literacy development, combine theory with practical applications and learn innovative iPad techniques for instructional strategies and assessments. Early childhood students will be versed in the physical and emotional development of toddlers, preschoolers, and primary-aged children and be encouraged to recognize and appreciate the diversity of today’s children. This degree contains field observation hours for each education course, a minimum of three hours per course, as well as a 40-hour practicum experience in a PK-3 setting.
Students majoring in early childhood education must fulfill the following core and major courses to meet certification requirements.
