Student Responsibility and Professional Licensure Disclosure

Lynn University encourages its students to take the primary responsibility for their own academic activities and to accept the resulting consequences. No student should behave in a manner that can harm the educational environment or diminish the learning experience of any other member of the academic community. Each student is responsible for knowledge of and adherence to regulations regarding registration, withdrawal, degree plan, deadlines, curriculum, graduation requirements and payments of tuition and fees.

Lynn University does not grant certification or licensure for the practice of any profession. Regulations governing certification and/or licensure are under the sole control of the appropriate boards in each state authorized to oversee these processes.

In compliance with Federal Regulation, 34 §C.F.R. 668.43, Lynn University provides students and prospective students disclosure information regarding courses or programs leading to professional licensure. Lynn University offers several programs leading to professional licensure within the state of Florida. States vary in what professions they require to be licensed and how that licensure is obtained. Licensing requirements in Florida may not be recognized as sufficient to obtain a license in another state. Relocation of a student to another state during the course of a program may impact a student’s ability to remain in the program, meet state licensure requirements and/or continue to receive financial aid funding. Prior to relocation, contact your academic advisor to discuss authorization and licensure eligibility requirements.

Lynn University will provide annual disclosures related to state and program-specific licensure eligibility. However, students also have a responsibility to:

  • contact the appropriate professional boards in the state(s) in which they intend to practice.
  • determine all requirements related to certification and/or licensure.
  • determine whether or not the degree program in which they are enrolled at Lynn University meets all program requirements for certification and/or licensure for the state(s) in which they intend to practice.

Disclosure

Lynn University participates in the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreements (NC-SARA), which allows us to provide online/distance learning programs and coursework to students from states other than Florida. However, this participation does not grant reciprocity or exempt us from state professional licensing requirements. Licensing requirements in Florida may not be recognized as sufficient to obtain a license in another state.

The licensure boards in each state establish the requirements for licensure/certification for their state. Students and prospective students should contact the licensing board in the state where they plan to practice for specific information concerning the licensure and certification requirements.
