Lynn University's Three Year Accelerated Degree Scholars Program

Lynn University’s Accelerated Degree Scholars Program provides a way for high achieving students to complete their 120 credit, undergraduate degree in three years. After demonstrating academic excellence in their first year, participating students can take additional classes during the subsequent Summer, Fall, and Spring terms at no additional tuition cost.

First year students who successfully complete at least 16 credits their first semester with a GPA of at least 3.0 and no grades of D or F, will be conditionally invited into the Accelerated Degree Scholars Program. Participants in the Accelerated Degree Scholars Program may enroll in additional credits starting with the Summer semester of their first year through the end of the Summer term in their 3rd consecutive year at Lynn University. There will be no overload tuition charges for these overload credit hours as long as all the courses count towards the undergraduate degree, and the student does not exceed 120 credit hours attempted. Any additional credits that exceed the 120 credit hour maximum will be billed at the current overload tuition rate. Graduate level courses not applicable to the undergraduate degree program will be billed at the current Graduate credit rate. The Accelerated Degree Scholars Program will not cover dual majors or Graduate courses. Change of Major Forgiveness declarations will be counted as part of the Accelerated Degree Scholars credit hours attempted. Academic minors will be considered part of the 120 credits attempted.

Requirements for Admission into the Accelerated Degree Program

• Successful completion of at least 16 credits within the first semester at Lynn University, and at least 15 credits the second semester

• Achieve a GPA of at least 3.0 each semester of the first year

• No grades of D or F

• Less than 15 transfer credits; students with IB or AP credits will be considered on a case-by-case basis

Requirements for Continued Participation in the Accelerated Degree Scholars Program

• Maintain a GPA of at least 3.0 every semester or term

• Mandatory orientation session for the program during Spring Block A

• Earn Required Resilience and Coping Scholars Program Badge

If a student fails to meet the requirements for continued participation in the Accelerated Degree Scholars Program, they will be placed in remediation for four blocks. This means you are still in the Accelerated Degree Scholars Program and will continue to receive tuition credits and access to the accelerated Degree Scholars Program for at least four blocks. However, to main your status in the program, you must:

• Bring your GPA to at least 3.0 over the next four blocks (if you already have a 3.0 or higher GPA, you must maintain it over this period)

• If applicable. retake any course(s) in which you received a D/F and earn a grade of at least C in that course(s) with in the next four blocks

• Continue making progress toward your Resilience and Coping badge in the Accelerated Degree Scholars Program by earning at least .5 points toward the required .5 points for the badge (you are strongly encouraged to earn more than .5)

Failure to do any of the above within the next four blocks (Fall A – Fall D 2022) will result in you being permanently removed from the program. Therefore, we strongly encourage you to take advantage of free resources provided by the Institute for Achievement and Learning (IAL) this fall. As an accelerated degree student, the IAL will offer, at no cost:

• Biweekly coaching for four blocks (16 weeks) – one-on-one appointments with an academic coach to help you set goals, follow a schedule, and work on challenges that may be holding you back academically

• Once per week tutoring for four blocks (16 weeks) – one-on-one sessions with experts in all subject areas

To take advantage of these services, please visit the IAL front desk in the Green Center to get you set up with a coach and schedule tutoring sessions. These services are entirely optional, and it is your responsible to utilize/schedule them. These services will only be provided during your four-block remediation period. Remediation is only offered once per student. In other words, if you earn a D/F or your GPA falls below 3.0 at a later date, you will automatically be removed from the program, and remediation will not be offered to you.

If you feel you need additional support to succeed in the Accelerated Degree Program, please reach out to your faculty mentor or to the Director of the Accelerated Degree Scholars Program to discuss your options and get you back on track. We want you to succeed!
