HCM 405I.T. Management and Analysis in Healthcare

This course explores the critical role information technologies and systems play in healthcare organizations. Students will also explore research methods-formulating a research question, model, reviewing the literature, and writing up research results in a health care context. It emphasizes the health care leaders' use of information systems to integrate clinical, financial and human resources data and to support managerial decision making. This course focuses on the selection, management and evaluation of various health care information systems and is designed to provide a broad overview of the need, selection and use of information systems in health care organizations. Students will develop an understanding of the needs of health care systems and gain familiarity with various technologies to manage those needs, including management information systems, clinical outcomes systems, and electronic patient records. Prerequisites HCM, 105, 205, 305, 310, 315, 320 and BUS 322.
