CIC recognizes Lynn's innovative use of open educational resources

Library exhibit displays presidential history

The Council of Independent Colleges (CIC), with over 750 institutional members at its disposal, hand-picked Lynn and four other institutions to participate in a nearly year-long study. The recently published work, "Access and Innovation," centers on the use of open educational resources (OER) at independent colleges and universities to support historically underrepresented students.

The study breaks down the impact of Lynn's iPad initiative, which began in 2013, and how the university reimagined the core curriculum to create the Dialogues in 2010. It also discusses the creation of the Lynn University Digital Press, which provides faculty members the support needed to replace traditional textbooks with e-books and to develop openly licensed course materials.

Faculty and staff who supported the study include:

  • Katrina Carter-Tellison, vice president for Academic Affairs
  • Jordan Chussler, Lynn University Digital Press academic editor
  • Sabine Dantus, adjunct professor
  • Amy Filiatreau, library director
  • Jeanette Francis, College of Business and Management professor
  • Mike Petroski, academic dean
  • Gary Villa, College of Arts and Sciences dean
