Students participating in the SDG Challenge: Miami had their final competition on Nov. 30 at the Kaseya Arena in Biscayne Bay, Miami.

Students presented projects they had been working on since September, which all revolved around finding sustainable solutions for real-life problems. Students were in teams with others from regional universities, including Florida International University, the University of Miami and Miami Dade College.

Teams were then partnered with local businesses facing a sustainability challenge. At the Grand Finale, students presented their innovative solutions, and a panel of judges crowned a winning team at the end of the event. Two Lynn University students, Alexandre Alquier and Rose Llanos, formed part of the winning team and worked with The Miami Herald for this project. Other outstanding students in the challenge included Ian Sinclair, Alexandra Escobar and Olga Roussos.

The program was led by Accountable Impact, a local non-profit that partnered with the Social Impact Lab and the College of Business and Management. Antonella Regueiro, Begum Kaplan and Andrew Burnstein served as mentors for the cohort.
