Lynn promotes Maria Piret to assistant vice president of Information Technology

Maria Piret '13 has served Lynn University for nearly 22 years, and this week, Chief Strategy and Technology Officer Christian Boniforti announced her promotion to assistant vice president of Information Technology.

Reporting to Boniforti, Piret will lead the university technology department, including information systems, network, security, project management and support services. She'll partner with university departments to determine right-fit IT solutions and maximize their value for the institution, as well as develop IT strategies and advise projects.

"Mary has been instrumental in building out complex, integrated software solutions, digitizing business processes, and implementing Workday's suite of products to enhance systems and streamline processes across campus," said Boniforti. "I am so proud of what Mary has accomplished and am excited to see how she uses her talents and passion for Lynn to lead the IT department."

Piret started at Lynn in February 2001 as the Registrar's application specialist. Since then, she's served as senior application specialist, enterprise systems manager and director of information systems. Piret also taught classes in the College of Business and Management as an adjunct professor.

Piret earned her bachelor's in international business from Universidad Central de Venezuela, her MBA in eCommerce from Florida Atlantic University and her master's in educational leadership from Lynn. She is a certified Project Management Practitioner and Scrum Master and holds an executive certificate in project management from FAU.

Piret completed the EDUCASE Management Institute program in 2012 and has served on the organization's Enterprise IT Program Advisory Committee, EDUCAUSE Program Committee, Enterprise IT Leadership Conference Program Committee and Enterprise Program Committee. She is the co-chair of the Workday Higher Education Systems & Services Consortium.
