College of Education students and faculty present at annual conference

Students and faculty in the Donald E. and Helen L. Ross College of Education presented at the 75th annual Florida Council for Exceptional Children conference in Lake Mary, Florida.

Presentations and awards:

  • Exceptional student education master's students Ashley Inoa and Ashaki Budden presented their research on self-advocacy and students with disabilities using the evidence-based intervention, "Possible Selves."
  • Educational leadership doctoral candidates Jillian Buckard Busha and Aiyeeshia Candeleria Hill presented their research on the rise of autism among black, indigenous and people of color (BIPOC) children.
  • Jennifer Lesh, associate professor, and Diana Morales, adjunct professor, presented on teacher preparation technology tips, teacher burnout, compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma.
  • Marissa Kase '16, '17, '19, was named the Marjorie Crick Florida Council for Exceptional Children Teacher of the Year.
  • Lesh, Morales and Steve Pruitt, director of graduate and online admission, gave a joint presentation on Lynn graduate education programs.
  • Lesh was an invited keynote speaker and spoke on "ChatGPT and Other Generative AI: A Game Changer for Special Education."
