Under the leadership of Dr. Anthony Altieri, Lynn University’s Division of Student Affairs oversees campus safety, housing, recreation, student involvement, spiritual and religious life, multicultural affairs and wellness services.
This year, two national organizations recognized Altieri and his team for outstanding work in student engagement and safety: the American College Personnel Association (ACPA) and The National Campus Safety Summit.
ACPA Innovative Practice Award
ACPA awarded Altieri the Innovative Practice Award, which is one of the industry’s highest professional honors. Campus practitioners who continue to innovate their approach to reaching students while impacting their communities earn this recognition.
Since becoming vice president for student affairs in 2017, Altieri fostered relationships across campus, creating awareness for student affairs programs and services. He adopted new reporting templates for Title IX and improved operations of Lynn’s student government, Knights of the Roundtable. Most recently, Altieri’s team designed a curriculum that measures students’ skills outside of the classroom. This comprehensive, intentional wellness approach looks at all sides of the student experience and demonstrates skills obtained outside of the classroom.
“Anthony takes a forward-looking approach to student affairs by envisioning what the future will need and what that means for higher education today,” said President Kevin M. Ross. “He is a constant reminder that our work impacts the future, and we should be proud of the legacy that we help our students create.”
National Campus Safety Summit’s Top 25
The Division of Student Affairs, including the Department of Campus Safety, earned a spot on The National Campus Safety Summit’s Top 25 University Departments list. Lynn placed No. 23 for its comprehensive approach to increase safety and security within the campus community.
Campus Safety regularly identifies new opportunities to improve safety with robust planning, a focus on best practices, collaboration with officials, and awareness campaigns.
“We’re focused on developing students beyond the classroom, and it’s important that we create a safe and healthy environment that supports their growth,” said Altieri. “I commend the Department of Campus Safety and the entire student affairs team for their hard work and diligence to make Lynn a remarkable and safe place to live and learn.”
