Lynn University supports the American Disabilities Act (ADA) as a civil rights law for people with disabilities that is built on the principles of equal opportunity, full participation, independent living and economic self-sufficiency. Please refer to our disability accommodations (ADAAA) policy for further details.

The Accessibility Services team works with the Institute for Achievement and Learning (IAL), which helps students attain the goal of independent learning. Learn more about IAL.

Academic accommodations
To obtain ADA accommodations at Lynn University, students have three obligations:

Submit documentation from your K-12 school, psychologist or medical professional to our Student Portal.
Schedule an appointment by calling +1 561-237-7028.
Engage in the interactive process.
Documentation must be provided by a licensed healthcare provider and includes:

Diagnosis or disability
Functional limitation(s) with objective evidence
Need for accommodations based on objective evidence
The interactive process: All students who have been accepted to the university, made a deposit and have a class schedule will meet with Student Accessibility Services.

New students: Once you submit your documentation, you'll receive an email in early August to schedule a meeting to begin the interactive process.

There is no deadline for requesting academic accommodations. ADA academic accommodation documentation may be submitted and/or changed at any time throughout the academic year. It is most common for students to submit a psychoeducational evaluation to obtain ADA academic accommodations.

Housing accommodations
Complete and submit the ADA Housing Accommodation Application with supporting documentation to the Student Portal.
Next, you'll receive confirmation that all documentation is sufficient.
You will receive your official ADA housing decision after the deadline.

Submit the ADA housing application by the following deadlines:

Returning fall students: March 1
New fall students: May 15
New spring students: Nov. 1

Students must submit a new application each academic year according to the above deadlines.

Ensuring accommodations are provided

Students receive their ADA Accommodation Notification form by email and submit it to their professors. Students are required to request accommodation renewals each semester. Students may request a renewal of previous accommodations by contacting Student Accessibility Services.
