Karima Lanfranco selected 2024 Outstanding Teacher of the Year

Karima Lanfranco stands on stage with Katrina Carter-Tellison and Mike Petroski holding a "Teacher of the Year" plaque.

Dr. Karima Lanfranco, assistant professor for the College of Business and Management, explains she felt "honored and incredibly proud" to earn the Award for Excellence in Teaching and Dedication to Students at Lynn University's 2024 Commencement Ceremony. "She has distinguished herself as a strong advocate for student learning and has incorporated distinct methods to engage students and foster a more interactive, dynamic, and participatory learning environment," said Dr. Katrina Carter-Tellison, vice president for Academic Affairs.

Lanfranco has demonstrated excellence in teaching and dedication to students for the past three years. As academic program coordinator for hospitality management and serving as the faculty advisor for both hospitality club and international hospitality honor society—Eta Sigma Delta—she has embedded an industry-recognized hotel management training system at Lynn.

"I want to continue to add value in a personalized way that's unique to each student's need," said Lanfranco. "I want to prepare them for what they can expect after graduation by developing skills they'll need and exposing them to different aspects of the industry."

With over a decade of experience in the industry, Lanfranco also worked at full-service properties across the U.S., including Hyatt Hotels, Four Seasons, Kessler Collection, and Hilton Hotels and Resorts.
