Lynn's Capstone Apartments named finalist in Structures Awards

Lynn University is proud to announce that its state-of-the-art Capstone Apartments has been recognized as a finalist in the Public/Civic category of the 2023 Structures Awards presented by the South Florida Business Journal (SFBJ).

This prestigious acknowledgment celebrates excellence in South Florida's real estate market, commending exemplary projects, deals and deal makers across 15 unique categories. Capstone Apartments, a shining example of sustainable living, has earned its place among the elite finalists competing with the Frost Institute for Chemistry & Molecular Science from the University of Miami and the Artificial Intelligence Center found in Miami Dade College.

Unveiled in August 2022, Capstone Apartments reshapes the on-campus housing experience at Lynn. Designed to facilitate living and learning opportunities, the apartments cultivate a vibrant community environment among upper-class students. Residents can conveniently access shared amenities, including a community kitchen, TV lounge, flexible workspace, multi-purpose room and quiet study lounges.

What distinguishes Capstone Apartments is its unwavering commitment to environmental stewardship. The residential complex boasts many sustainable features, including solar sunshades, a high Socially Responsible Investment (SRI) roof material, low-flow fixtures, and energy-efficient LED lighting. Builders prioritized locally sourced materials wherever possible, and the private interior courtyard showcases native plantings and water-conserving landscaping.

Capstone Apartments, a $40.5 million project, was realized through a public-private partnership with national student housing developer Capstone Development Partners. The design-build team behind this innovative project included Capstone Management Partners, Gerrits Construction, Design Collective, Donahue Architecture and Design and Provident Resources Group.

Capstone Apartments offers affordable and convenient housing for 342 upperclassmen and graduate students. The modern residences play a crucial role in the university's Lynn 2025 strategic plan, addressing the growing demand for on-campus living options while prioritizing sustainability and innovation.

As a finalist in the SFBJ Structures Awards, Capstone Apartments proudly stands as a testament to Lynn's commitment to innovation, sustainability and community-building for its student body.
