Lynn University launches Workday student

Workday Student is now live at Lynn University. The initial "move to production" phase (MPT1) was launched Aug. 28, which transferred core Admission and Financial Aid functionalities to the production tenant. This change marks the start of transitioning records for all incoming Fall 2024 students out of Jenzabar and PowerFAIDS and into Workday. The project team is diligently testing and fine-tuning setups for this initial phase.

What's next

The second "move to production" phase (MPT2), which manages Fall 2024 course registrations, will be live with limited access in February 2024 and available campus-wide in March 2024.

This update allows the following:

  • Returning students can use Workday in the spring to register for Fall 2024 courses.
  • New students can enroll in their Fall 2024 courses.
  • Academic departments can manage Fall 2024 courses and schedules for Spring 2024.

How you can prepare for the transition

At this time, Admission and Financial Aid are the pioneering departments using Workday. Before the Fall 2024 advising and registration period, various training opportunities and guided practice sessions will be offered.

On Jan. 15, Information Systems will hold a mock semester where participating students simulate the registration process in Workday. During that time, faculty members will manage their teaching schedules and override requests, and advisors will examine academic plans, approvals, requirements, and student holds while also advising students within Workday. Also in January, student volunteers and individuals who have not been part of the project will begin testing the system and providing feedback.

Lynn's project team will coordinate virtual and in-person "sneak peeks" for faculty and staff across campus. These sneak peeks will include demonstrations of the system's functions for different types of users. The team will also organize "hands-on" training sessions early next year. Administrative and academic staff can learn how to navigate the system, access student records, and view course records—among other functionalities.

Stay tuned for more information in the coming weeks.
