Affording private college in South Florida?

An investment in a college education returns much more than a diploma. It provides opportunities and experiences that shape a student's life and prepares them to achieve a better future. Ranked No. 5 for "Least Debt after Graduation" by U.S. News & World Report, Lynn University offers 94% of its undergraduates some form of financial aid, which can include scholarships, grants, loans and employment. Lynn's Admission team is on a mission to educate students about the many ways a private and affordable education is within their reach.

Many students have accelerated their bachelor's degree through Lynn's three-year degree program, which costs approximately $50,000 less than a standard four-year degree.

Eligible students are invited to enter the program after their first semester. Course overload fees are covered by Lynn and students receive priority registration to work with their advisor to find the right schedule.

"Students can save a year on tuition and also use the truncated pathway to earn a postgraduate degree in less time and for less money," said Evelyn Nelson, executive director of student financial services. "This program isn't designed for only high achieving students but rather highly motivated students because they will take extra classes each semester and/or over the summer, as well as classes in the evenings."

In addition to Lynn's accelerated degree program, students who call South Florida home can save even more with special state and federal scholarships when they apply early for financial assistance. Florida offers many programs that can lower the financial burden of earning a degree, including Bright Futures scholarships and Florida Prepaid options. The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) can also determine federal eligibility for grants. Collectively, these programs can make a substantial difference, which makes attending a private university much more accessible.

Financial aid counselors also encourage students to seek awards, scholarships and grants from local organizations.

"There are several ways to seek and receive financial assistance. It’s all about getting students the best financial aid package—a little from here, and some from there, adds up to a significant reduction in tuition," said Nelson. "If all the chips fall into the right places, tuition can be as low as $4,000 a year without loans for a Florida student."

Lynn offers many work-study jobs on campus, and the Career and Alumni Connections team helps students participate in more than 600 internships, many of them paid opportunities. The recently opened Brightline train station in Boca Raton means it's easier than ever for students to access paid internship and job opportunities in Miami, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach and more. The Brightline offers complimentary rideshare services and affordable monthly passes.
