The New York Times states Scott Wheeler’s work “…shines with craftsmanship. How else could this music bear so much information with such high energy and still give an air of delicacy and transparency?” The American Record Guide says,” Lovers of down-to-earth, intelligent American piano writing should check out this release.” He has received awards and commissions from the Guggenheim Foundation, the Koussevitsky Foundation, the Fromm Foundation, as well as the Stoeger Prize for excellence in chamber music from the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. He serves as  Distinguished Artist in Residence at Emerson College and has been commissioned by the major Opera Houses and Orchestras of the world including The Metropolitan Opera, Washington National Opera, Boston Lyric opera and the orchestras of Minnesota, Houston, Toledo and Indianapolis.
