Culturally Responsive Counseling with First Responders

Description

This three-hour workshop helps mental health practitioners and other health care providers become culturally aware of first responders who seek counseling. This population commonly faces challenges in getting help for their particular issues and concerns. Breakfast bites included.

Participants will:

  • Understand the role of trauma among the first responder population and vicarious trauma among mental health professionals
  • Learn treatment obstacles that mental health professionals should anticipate when working with first responders
  • Apply common methods to overcome treatment obstacles for first responders
  • Understand how to build rapport with their first responder clients in counseling settings

Lynn students: Free event
Lynn alumni: $35, includes 3 continuing education credit hours
General public: $60, includes 3 continuing education credit hours
