Dr. Sarah Worch is an assistant professor of psychology at Lynn University. She completed her undergraduate and master’s degrees in psychology and her doctoral degree in human sciences. Her specializations include behavioral neuroscience, quantitative research methods, and couple and family therapy.

After completing her doctoral studies, Worch was a Postdoctoral Scholar in the Cancer Control Training in Disparities and Equity (C-TIDE) program at the University of Miami, where she focused on biostatistics alongside research examining coping mechanisms, cardio-metabolic comorbidities, and quality of life in Hispanic cancer survivors. In her post-doctoral position, she also focused on bringing a family systems lens to research with under-represented cancer patients and their family members. Worch’s current research interests include the influence of relational factors (e.g., family support) on racial-ethnic minority health and resiliency factors in family systems.

Teaching philosophy

Worch’s approach to teaching is most consistent with principles of inclusive pedagogy: being flexible, equitable, working collaboratively, embracing diversity, and supporting personalization (individual difference). She incorporates these principles into her teaching through intentional interactions with students from all walks of life. Alongside students, Worch creates a meaningful environment and relationship process that ultimately fosters student inquiry, critical thinking skills, and the acquisition and application of knowledge. Throughout this process, Worch encourages deep engagement with course material (and self) alongside bringing humor into the classroom to enhance learning.
