Philip Fazio

Dr. Fazio worked as a corporate banker, credit administrator (approver of credits), and private banker. Today, he is a financial advisor at a large national broker-dealer specializing in financial planning, managed money and high net-worth domestic and international individuals.

Fazio earned his Certified Financial Planning (CFP) designation in 2002, and his Certified Investment Management Analyst designation in 2007. He was chair of the Council on Examinations for the CFP(r) board and is also past chair of the Certification Commission for Investment Management Consultants. Both of these committees reviewed, approved and created the certification examinations.

Fazio has served on the CFP Boards Discipline and Ethics Commission for 2021 and 2022, a disciplinary regime that addresses material breaches of CFP ethics. He has published in the Journal of Family Business Management. He has over 30 citations on his work with small-cap stocks capital structure and executive compensation of family-owned public small-cap firms.

Fazio teaches CFP courses for eligibility to take the comprehensive exam. Until 2023, he taught fundamentals and investments. He enjoys investment and corporate finance and teaching both finance topics at the graduate and undergraduate levels.
