Professional profile

Jerry Fedele is uniquely qualified to bring real-world experience to benefit Lynn students. He served as President and CEO of West Penn Allegheny Health System where he was credited with saving Allegheny General Hospital and three affiliated hospitals from the largest healthcare bankruptcy in U.S. history. Fedele led a team that completed a transformational restructuring and $750 million refinancing. This transformation resulted in an industry-leading turn-around and formation of West Penn Allegheny Health System as a western Pennsylvania, nationally prominent six hospital, 5,000 physician, and 13,000 employee health system generating more than $1.5 billion in revenue in the early 2000s.

Prior to his leadership of western Pennsylvania health systems, Fedele served as Managing Director of FTI Healthcare before becoming President and CEO of Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Fedele is credited with evolving the credible community hospital into a prominent tertiary academic medical center with medical school-affiliated residency and fellowship teaching programs. He also developed sophisticated clinical programs in oncology, cardiovascular, women's, orthopedics and neuroscience services that garnered national recognition for clinical capabilities, quality and patient satisfaction. Under his leadership as president, Boca Regional Hospital soared to the number one hospital in Palm Beach County and number 13 in the state of Florida by U.S. News and World Report.

Fedele spent the first 10 years of his career as a corporate lawyer in Pittsburgh focused on technology, engineering and construction projects for materials handling facilities, chemical and steel plant equipment, and facilities construction within the U.S., Europe, the Middle East and Taiwan. Fedele currently serves as an executive-in-residence at Lynn University, and an independent healthcare consultant, interim executive and executive adviser for Blue Sea Capital.
