Professional profile

Omar Babun Codorniu is currently pursuing his Ph. D. in Mathematics in the area of Functional Analysis at Florida Atlantic University. He obtained his M.S. in Mathematics from the same institution. His undergraduate studies were done at the University of Oriente, Santiago de Cuba, where he obtained a B. S. in Physics with specialization in Mathematics. Babun was hired at Lynn University in 2015. Prior to teaching at Lynn University, he worked as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Mathematics at Florida Atlantic University, as a Learning Specialist in Palm Beach State College, and as a Mathematics tutor at Broward Community College.

Teaching philosophy

Over the years, Omar Babun has realized that mathematics can be an intimidating subject for many students. That is why his philosophy of teaching is to meet the students where they are. In other words, he tries to accommodate to the student's level and personal circumstances, such as learning style and background knowledge. In his classes, students always use diagrams, tables, graphs and real life examples to convey abstract mathematical concepts.
