SCI 501Experimental Design

This course guides students through the experimental design process of biological experiments. Through a review of primary literature, students will learn to identify and explain the parts of an experiment, limitations of the experiment, and potential sources of bias in the experiment. Furthermore, through survey of types of experiments, students will be able to determine what type of experiment should be applied to specific biological research questions to adequately evaluate the research question while reducing bias and ensuring quality control. Students will apply the content of the course through designing a replication experiment.
