Important Dates for Students in March and April
Dear Parents:
With Spring Break just around the corner, I want to make you aware of key upcoming dates for Lynn students:
- MARCH 2-9, 2008: SPRING BREAK 2008 As we approach Spring Break, it is important for parents to take the time to have a conversation with their students about the students' plans for the week of Spring Break. Discussions should focus on:
- responsible behavior
- making good choices about personal safety
- alternatives to the "party scene"
- faculty-led academic study tour programs to many ports-of-call
-
community service projects through the university or at home
-
Just "hangin' out" at home with family and friends
In all cases, parents can assist their students in making good decisions about Spring Break. We want all of our students to get the most out of Spring Break, but we want them return to the university safe and in good health.
- APRIL 7-22, 2008: EARLY REGISTRATION FOR FALL 2008 Depending on the number of credits they have earned, students will be able to register with their advisors for the fall 2008 term. The greater number of credits a student has earned, the sooner they can register. Students will be notified via e-mail and there will be signs throughout the campus outlining the process. If there are any questions, contact should be made with the academic advisor or the registrar's office. REGISTER EARLY - IT'S THE BEST IDEA!
- APRIL 21-25, 2008: RESIDENCE HALL ROOM SELECTION Parents should be aware that residential students will be selecting their residence hall rooms for next year during the posted room selection process. Beyond that time, the rooms are selected and assigned on a first- come, first-served basis according to availability. To insure that they can reserve their rooms for 2008-2009, students must complete the process with the Office of Residence Life. Students will be given the criteria for the process, the information will be available on the Lynn University Web site (www.lynn.edu), and the information about the process will appear throughout the campus. Parents will also be receiving a separate communication outlining the room selection process. Make sure that your student signs up for his or her room during room selection.
Thank you for reminding your sons and daughters about these dates. We wish you a safe Spring Break.
Sincerely,
Paul S. Turner
Dean of Students
