The late Paul Reekie was a prominent musical director and arranger in the theater world. His resume spanned countless productions, cabaret acts, theater shows and musical performances long before he joined Lynn University in 2018.

Lynn invited Reekie to music direct The Music of Andrew Llyod Webber, the first musical performed by drama students in its new Bachelor of Fine Arts program. He creatively arranged pieces and provided hands-on direction to students, faculty and staff. It didn't take long for Reekie to be known for the time and talent he gave to each performance and, especially, to Lynn students.

"He was a joy to work with," said Adam Simpson, Lynn Drama program coordinator. "His proficiency as a music director was crucial to the success of the production."

Reekie's untimely passing in 2020 shocked the Lynn community in more ways than one. He left behind a surprise gift to Lynn—more than $26,000 from his estate. The generous donation contributed to the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center Endowment, supporting upkeep of the Wold Performing Arts Center.

"We didn't know about the gift until Paul passed," said Lisa Miller, director of annual programs. "When we received the contribution, it was clear that we left as much of an impression on him as he did on us."

Reekie's name was added to the donor wall inside the Wold Performing Arts Center. The unveiling included a dedication by friends and a musical performance by drama students.

"It's fitting to see Paul's name in the place where he made such a positive impact," said Simpson. "And we're so grateful that his generosity will always be a part of Lynn."
