Personal time

Purpose

The purpose of this policy is to define the University’s policy and procedures for administering personal time to eligible regular, full-time employees.

Policy

Regular full-time employees are granted paid personal time on January 1 each calendar year at the rate of 14 hours per year for 35-hour per week employees and 16 hours per year for 40-hour per week employees. In the first year of full-time employment, the amount of personal time granted is prorated based on the following schedule:

Personal time may be used at the employee’s discretion for religious holidays and personal matters. Personal time is available for use during the calendar year in which it is granted. Employees are not paid for unused personal time either at the end of the year or upon termination of employment.

When possible, personal time should be requested in advance and must be approved by your supervisor.
