On April 10, Lynn University hosted an open-fire culinary battle. President Kevin M. Ross, Lynn Dining members, and faculty and staff prepared global cuisine and barbecue options for attendees. Culinary stations featured unique dishes from Argentina, the Bahamas, Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Germany, Haiti, Italy, Jamaica, Panama, Spain, the state of Texas and the United States.
Grill masters and their teams battled it out in the barbecue showdown, each serving up dishes that highlighted the distinct flavors of their native countries and states. With a partly cloudy day and a comfortable breeze, Christine's Park transformed into a prototypical tailgate scene engulfed in BBQ smoke and booming music. The event provided a variety of juicy, smoky and grilled options paired with flavorful side dishes and desserts, offering a culinary experience for everyone involved.
As the barbecue war came to a close, participants scanned barcodes to vote for their favorite dish. The United States took first place this year for its pork belly burnt ends tacos. Smoked brisket from Texas took second place and Argentinian vacio with its traditional chimichurri sauce finished third.
Lynn's barbecue brawl is one of several special events held by Lynn Dining, which is managed by Sodexo, a leader and a partner to more than 850 colleges and universities in the United States and Canada.
