Sheila Sheppard, senior associate director of international admission, was invited to serve on the board of the Farmworkers' Children's Council (FCCI), Inc.
FCCI provides free educational, cultural, recreational and social programs to children of families laboring in the agricultural, nursery, and equestrian fields of South Palm Beach County.
Over the past few years Sheppard has volunteered with FCCI teaching “survival” English to the adult members of the community and participating in the Saturday morning tutoring program for elementary-age children. (Ross College of Education students served as tutors designing study plans.) In November 2017, she held an informational session on first-generation students in college and/or vocational technical schools, and continues to work with first-generation junior high and high school students, parent/guardians in the community to meet their needs, guiding and serving as a resource.
Sheppard is a member of the Junior League of Boca Raton which works with non-profits in the community, including FCCI.
