Dantus awarded scholarship to Key West Literary Seminar

Sabine Dantus, outreach librarian in the Lynn Library, was awarded a scholarship created especially for teachers and librarians, giving her the opportunity to attend the Key West Literary Seminar, “Writers of the Caribbean,” Jan. 11–14, featuring acclaimed authors such as Jamaica Kincaid, Marlon James and Edwidge Danticat.

Dantus was inspired by the seminar to showcase Caribbean authors this semester in the recently launched Lynn Library book club.

“Right now, we face nearly constant controversy surrounding immigration and the right of immigrants to be in the United States, such as Haitians and Dreamers,” said Dantus. “Providing a forum for the discussion of Caribbean books among the Lynn University community, when so many people are unaware of the cultural richness that the Caribbean offers, is timely.”
