Christine's menu preview

Christine's menu preview: sushi

As the new Christine E. Lynn University Center takes shape at the heart of campus, a new menu for Christine’s is taking shape, too.

Lynn’s culinary creators recently hosted a sneak preview of some of the food options for the cozy bar and coffee shop that will be located on the second floor of the new building. The new campus eatery will have a sports bar vibe with a menu to match, serving refreshments from lattes to lagers.

To deliver an experience that will make the new Christine’s a favorite hangout for students, alumni and employees, Lynn’s dining partners at Sodexo gathered feedback on a sample tasting menu that includes something for everyone — from after-game nachos and gourmet burgers to healthy dinner options like fresh salads and flatbreads. The sampling was just the first step in a process to fine tune the culinary offerings that will be available at Christine’s. Based on comments from Lynn foodies, Sodexo will refine the menu and invite students to taste the fare.

Crowd-pleasers from among the possible appetizers included barbecue chicken nachos with fresh queso and siracha, yuca fries with Tabasco aioli and bruschetta with tomato jam, goat cheese and candied pecans. Taco possibilities included flat iron steak, carnitas and grilled vegetables, with tomatillo cabbage slaw or chipotle ranch sauce. The potential sandwich menu was designed with Fighting Knights’ appetites in mind: a hand-ground short rib and sirloin burger; pretzel dogs with sauerkraut, cheddar and jalapenos; and a wine and cheese burger topped with smoked gouda and merlot barbecue sauce.

Ready to eat? The delicious new menu will make its official debut at the university center grand opening planned for Feb. 8.
