Lynn University’s new students get a head start on their college adventure and a sneak peek into their future home away from home during Lynn Launch: First Year Immersion.
The program helps incoming students make the transition from high school to college with a balance of engaging educational sessions and good old-fashioned South Florida fun.
“It’s a great way for students to get acclimated to campus prior to school beginning in the fall,” says Jaclyn Kuwik, student involvement coordinator.
Students learn about Lynn and become familiar with the campus, their new classmates and themselves during one of two sessions: July 13–16 or July 20–23— well ahead of their first day of classes.
“Students who have attended Lynn Launch tell us they feel so much more comfortable when they arrive on campus in the fall.”
Jaclyn Kuwik, student involvement coordinator.
In addition, students learn about academic expectations, the importance of on-campus involvement and what it means to be a college student. They meet with an academic adviser and take part in conference-style educational and leadership sessions.
“Students who have attended Lynn Launch tell us they feel so much more comfortable when they arrive on campus in the fall,” says Kuwik. “They enter in August already knowing 50 of their peers and recognizing many of our staff members. It is a great way to help students ease into the transition of college life!”
Students stay in one of the residence halls and get a taste of what it is like to live on campus and the inside scoop from a roommate assigned to them for the week.
“We also have a lot of fun,” adds Kuwik. “We will explore Boca Raton, where students can soak up the South Florida sunshine on a local beach. And you can’t beat a trip to Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom with your new group of friends!”
The three-day program immerses students in life at Lynn, providing the opportunity for them to create friendships and memories to last a lifetime.
