Employees and students gathered this evening at Remembrance Plaza at Lynn University for a moment of silence honoring those who were lost in the 2010 earthquake that devastated Haiti and left a lasting imprint on campus.
Members of the Gengel, Gianacaci and Bruno families attended the brief ceremony, as well as a Journey of Hope survivor and other dear friends.
President Kevin M. Ross remarked, “The Journey of Hope and each of its members will forever be an important part of the Lynn story. Every year we come together and mourn, but more importantly, we remember and celebrate their lives.”
The Knights Unite Day of Caring occurs annually during the university's January Term. This year, faculty organized off-campus volunteer events and on-campus drives to collect school supplies, hygiene products and plastic bottle caps to support local charities and organizations.
Students and staff who didn’t have the opportunity to participate in the Jan. 12 events can join Lynn students for the sixth annual “Miracle League” Spring Training Game. The softball practice provides an opportunity for children with physical, mental and developmental challenges to get out and enjoy the love of the game. Contact Ted Curtis for more information.
