Founders Day

Nov. 1, 9 a.m.

Great Beginnings

Start the day with breakfast and hear a historical retrospective from President Kevin M. Ross and special guests who had a hand in shaping the university in years past.

Canoe Challenge

Freiburger lawn: noon–4 p.m.
Will you win or will you swim? The canoe races are a time-honored Founders Day tradition. Form a team, defend your title or just come by and cheer on the sidelines (and see who lands in the lake), while enjoying kettle corn, music and raffle prizes.

In addition to the regular races, featured competitions include:

  • Best Team Apparel/Costume
  • Most Entertaining/Spectacular Sinking Team
  • Two-Person Speed Race
  • Golden Paddle (faculty race)

Family Picnic and Festival

Schmidt and Green Center lawn: 5–8 p.m.
Employees and family members are invited to join students for a festival of delicious food, live music and fun activities. Stick around for the announcement of the canoe challenge winners and the lively and colorful student golf cart parade.
