This course offers an overview of theory and teaching applications specific to students with autism spectrum disorders. This course emphasizes a historical overview of ASD and introduces students to the social, communication, and behavioral characteristics of students with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Emphasis on intervention models, curricular issues, and effective instructional practices used in the education of students with ASD. Eight hours of field-based experience is required with this course.
