EDU 419Science in the Elementary School II

This course will provide meaningful and practical experiences that will prepare teacher candidates to create effective science learning environments for elementary school, grades K-6. The course will develop a strong conceptual understanding of standards-based planning, instruction, assessment and backwards design. Teacher candidates will participate in the same kind of inquiry-based experiences they will use in their own classroom, and will build on the pedagogical strategies developed in EDU 317. Eight hours of field observation are required.
