EDU 101Introduction to Education

An introduction to the historical, philosophical and sociological foundation of education as well as the legal, social, financial and political
environment of schools. The course is designed to introduce the teacher candidate to some of the issues (and the backgrounds of these issues) currently found in education. The course will also guide/assist the teacher candidate to develop a basis for making decisions regarding teaching if it is to be his/her profession of choice. Five hours of field observations are required.
