DRA 236Musical Theatre History I

In this course students will be presented with an overview of the 100 year hsitory of musical theatre from opera and operetta to "traditional" composers such as Rodgers and Hammerstein to contemporary composerrs such as Stephen Sondhelm and Jason Robert Brown. Students will also be presented with the history of popular or non-theatre music styles and the representative artists of these styles essential for working in the modern musical theatre industry.
