Why is Lynn building on-campus housing?
Enrollment at Lynn University has been steadily increasing over the past 10 years, and we welcomed our largest class ever in fall 2021. We are expanding our on-campus housing options to accommodate this remarkable growth and ensure that upperclassmen and graduate students have affordable opportunities to immerse themselves in the campus-lifestyle, which is an essential part of the college experience.

What amenities are available in the Capstone?
The building offers furnished apartments with private bedrooms, full kitchens and shared amenities including laundry facilities on each floor, TV lounge, flexible workspace, multi-purpose room and quiet study lounges. In the bedrooms, a full-sized bed, wardrobe, two-drawer chest and chair are provided. Kitchens include a full-size refrigerator, stove, oven and microwave. Students provide their own cookware and tableware.

What type of housing options are available in the new apartments?
The building features furnished apartments in multiple floor plans with private bedrooms and full kitchens, including:

• Studios with private bath
• 2 bedrooms, 1 bath
• 2 bedrooms, 2 baths
• 4 bedrooms, 2 baths

Who can live in Capstone Apartments?
Juniors, seniors and graduate students enrolled in Lynn University will have first priority to apply for housing in the Capstone. The building has space for up to 342 students, and housing will be assigned based on availability.

Can students’ families live in the Capstone?
All on-campus residence halls, including the new apartments, are for enrolled students only.

What lease terms are available for the Capstone?
Nine-month housing licenses will be offered that cover the fall and spring semesters of the academic year. Students over 60 credit hours who are enrolled in summer courses or engaged in other summer activities approved at the discretion of the university may request a 3-month extension for the summer.

What is the cost of rent for the new apartments?

What does the cost of rent include?
Apartments are fully furnished with utilities included (Xfinity on Campus access, Wi-Fi, water, electricity, sewer and trash shoots). Optional meal plans may be purchased for an additional fee.

What furnishings are included in the apartments?

• Full-size bed frame and headboard
• Full-size nylon mattress
• Two-drawer underbed storage
• Desk and desk chair
• Wardrobe for hanging clothes
• Sofa, loveseat, lounge chair or ottoman (depending on apartment type)
• Coffee table, end table, media unit (depending on apartment type)
• Dining table, mobile island (depending on apartment type)
• Dining chairs or counter stools (depending on apartment type)
• Full-size refrigerator, electric oven/range, microwave

Does rent include renter’s insurance?
No. Students wishing to protect their belongings from the possibility of loss should obtain their own property insurance coverage. Some residents may be covered under their parents' existing homeowner's or renter's policy. Check with your personal insurance company for more information.

Can students apply their Lynn housing scholarships toward the cost of the Capstone?
No internal Lynn University financial scholarships may be used for the new residence hall, including merit, athletics, conservatory, Watson, Presidential housing scholarships. Funding from external programs such as Federal and State Financial Aid may be applied. If you have questions about your aid, contact the Financial Aid team.

Why don’t Lynn financial scholarships apply to the new apartments?
Unlike other residence halls on campus, which are wholly owned and operated by Lynn, this new building has been financed through a public-private partnership in collaboration with Capstone Development Partners, a national student housing developer. This partnership enables us to provide an apartment-living experience on campus, where juniors, seniors, and graduate students have first priority for placement.

Does the Capstone have options to accommodate students with disabilities?
Yes, campus residents with disabilities may request specific accommodations for their individual needs. If you would like to request a housing accommodation, you will need to submit a housing application and an ADA housing accommodation application. ADA accommodation deadlines are March 1 for returning students, June 1 for new students starting in the Fall semester and October 1 for new students starting in the Spring semester.
