Professional profile

Tom Barthle has been flying since 1971, earning his private pilot’s license in the summer of 1972. After flying for many years for personal enjoyment and raising a family, Barthle began professional flight training in 1997 and earned instrument, commercial, and flight instructor with instrument by 2002. His professional career includes 30 years as a high school teacher, four years as a part time adjunct professor at a community college, and now a full-time flight instructor at Lynn University.

Teaching philosophy

Tom believes in developing pilots who are confident in themselves and capable of mastering the art and skill of flying, whether for personal pleasure or in pursuit of a professional career in aviation. He has a passion for all things aeronautical and enjoys sharing that passion with his students.
