Why Lynn?

The Lynn environment has provided John Pickering with the opportunity to share ideas with small classes in a variety of subject matter which he has found interesting and stimulating. In addition, Pickering feels that the Lynn environment allows a freedom to the professor to pursue subject matter in their unique style, and provides a student population of many diverse backgrounds.

Pickering has been a professor at Lynn University for more than 30 years. He is also a book reviewer.

Teaching Philosophy:

As a student of history, John Pickering believes the study of history provides one with a critical understanding of the present and allows us to pursue such an understanding with a variety of disciples (literature, films, economics, geography, etc.). He believes as a professor it is his obligation to create enthusiasm in the classroom for the pursuit of knowledge.
