Professional profile

Deborah Fleisher is a third generation harpist.  She began her studies with her grandmother, Nettie Druzinsky at age seven.  An accomplished pianist Nettie was essentially self-taught on the harp.  Her son Edward gave her lessons on his breaks from studying harp with Carlos Salzedo at the Curtis Institute.  Edward was principal harpist with the Chicago Symphony for forty two years.  Deborah is a graduate of the Curtis Institute of Music studying with Marilyn Costello and received an Artist's Diploma from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University with Ruth Inglefield.  She has held principal positions with the Baltimore Opera, Delaware Symphony, Florida Grand Opera and Miami City Ballet and Baltimore Concert Artists.  She has been Harp Editor for the American String Teachers Association, served on the Contemporary Music selection committee for the USA Harp Competition and judges and coaches for the National Young Arts Foundation.  Her summers are spent teaching and performing at the Hot Springs Music Festival and the Miami Summer Music Festival.  Deborah is a frequent guest chamber music artist throughout Florida.
