Bell Cooper understands that her passion for quantitative analytics is quite rare, and that most students are not overly eager to learn about statistics. She approaches her lectures and lecture preparation with this in mind, and she does everything she can to make the topic as simple and interesting as possible. She emphasizes the importance of knowing the material and the utility that it can bring for future careers. She treats statistical knowledge like a magical artifact wherein the beholder of that knowledge can unlock the key to any potential endeavor. Quantitative understanding is in demand in every career, and when students possess that tool, they have a distinct advantage over other candidates in every field. In Dr. Cooper’s opinion, that is just one more aspect that makes statistics so exciting!
With several years of teaching, tutoring, data science and statistical consulting experience, Dr. Cooper’s overarching goal in any course is to have students respect and appreciate value of the discipline and internalize its significance so that they are motivated to continue to grow their quantitative skills and apply them to real life issues.
