Hands-on experience making an impact

The Social Impact Lab is an experiential learning space that generates positive impact, both locally and globally, through sustainable business concepts. It houses the Watson Institute, coworking spaces, and the Center for Citizenship and Civility. Together, these initiatives engage students in work that teaches doing good regardless of their field of study.

Since 1962, Lynn's commitment to its community has been the driving force to help improve the lives of the citizens in Boca Raton, Florida, and beyond. The Social Impact Lab's programs and projects help support the institution's duty to service.

Work on the frontlines of social change.

Ambassador Corps

Ambassador Corps is the Social Impact Lab's flagship program. This eight-week internship provides you with the opportunity to work on the frontlines of social change through hands-on experiences.

Impact Scholars program

The Impact Scholars program engages students in all five pillars of social impact at Lynn University while shaping them into holistic changemakers.

In this self-paced program, students gain soft and hard skills to help them in a competitive and increasingly socially responsible workforce. Students learn the importance of experiential learning, continued community engagement, interdisciplinary collaboration, professional development and personal development throughout their three- to four-year academic journey at Lynn. Upon completion of each pillar, students gain digital badges to showcase their acquired skills. When students complete all requirements, they receive a certificate and a personalized stole to wear at graduation.

How the program works

Contact Dr. Antonella Regueiro to enroll in the program.
Work through the program requirements at your own pace during your time as a student.
You must complete at least three out of five requirements for each pillar.
When you complete each pillar, you'll receive an online badge to showcase your new skills.
Completion of all five pillars will earn you the Social Impact Scholars Award.

United Nations Millennium Fellowship

The United Nations Millennium Fellowship provides you with the tools and opportunities to bring a specific social impact project to life.

How it works

To ensure the successful completion of your project, you'll work under the guidance of two campus directors and mentors from the Social Impact Lab. Once completed, you'll attend a virtual graduation and be awarded a certificate of completion by MCN and the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) network.

Previous fellows have:

Worked to ban plastic straws in the Bobby Campbell Dining Commons
Started a non-profit to help support education in Rwanda
Created an organization to help local businesses become B Corporation certified
Fundraised to build a school with ecobricks in Uganda

Help educate women in Afghanistan.

Research for a cause

The Social Impact Lab partnered with national non-profit Women Forward International and international non-profit The Sakena Fund on a long-term research project that helps continue the education of women in Afghanistan.

Each year, two to three Lynn University students will take on a new assignment, building on what has been done before to reach the project goals. Students have worked on identifying some of the most viable curriculum materials for women's education, as well as finding partners for an online university that would be accessible to women in the country. The research progress is presented annually in a virtual forum and published by Women Forward International.

Social impact work is important, but it does have its challenges. In the Social Impact Lab, we provide services to over 50 community-based nonprofit organizations to help ensure their sustainability.

Services include:

One-on-one consultations with lab staff

Participation in the Global Village pop-up market
Reduced fees for Lynn Creative Services
Discounts on video production services from former Lynn alumni
