Media studies and practice curriculum
In this master’s in communications program you’ll obtain a strong foundation in advanced communication and media theory, research, law and history with multiple layers of practical application in content production and delivery. Compare theories of communication and media. Examine history and development of interdisciplinary theories about media processes and effects as well as roles, functions and consequences of media communication in society.
COM 555 Media, Publics and Social Change
Study the function of communication in promoting social change. Discover the role of media in the understanding of forces promoting or resisting social change. Special attention is given to marginalized groups and their attempts to influence the public sphere.
COM 570 Visual Communication Practice
Study visual design to convey messages used in promotional materials, advertising and social media content. Explore visual design theories to create and analyze visual images to create multiproduct advertisements, magazine covers and page layouts for web pages and social media venues.
