Note: Aviation operation students are not eligible for any Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) certificates through Lynn University. Students can earn their FAA certificates on their own at a local flight school.

Aviation operations information

Learning the operations side of the aviation industry can help you determine in what field you may want to specialize. This operations degree takes a deep dive into both the business and aeronautics industries. Along with your core curriculum, you'll take a variety of courses in both business and aviation operations, including:

  • Primary flight theory, aviation safety, weather, and history
  • Management and leadership, business analytics and operations management

Airfield operations specialist

Airfield operations specialists ensure a safe takeoff and landing of aircrafts. They liaise between different operations departments, oversee maintenance, and monitor environmental and runway conditions.

Professional pilot

Captains take command of the cockpit in private or commercial airliners to get passengers safely to their destination. They plan their route, speed and schedule for flights, always aligning with federal and local regulations.

Fixed base operation management

Fixed base operation managers oversee the aviation operations for a company's airstrip or hangar. They schedule fuel sales and delivery, hangar rentals and aircraft repair service. They also manage the crew and hiring process at a base.
