Lynn University is hiring for a part time adjunct professor to teach the 100 level scientific literacy course in the university's four-year interdisciplinary core curriculum, the Dialogues of Learning. This position involves primarily emphasizing science as a method of inquiry with an applied focus.

Essential duties and responsibilities
  • Teaching and student evaluation
  • Responsible for teaching a seminar course on the subject of scientific literacy for freshman non-science majors
  • Topics will include the nature of science, the relationship between science and technology, the nature of the physical world, the history of science and the relationship between science and society
  • Creating a theme for the course around which these subjects will be taught
  • Assigning research papers and oral presentations relating to the covered topics


  • Qualified candidates will have earned a doctorate or master’s degree in a field of natural sciences from an accredited institution
  • Prior teaching experience is preferred but not essential
  • Effective teaching style
  • Ability to stand, walk, sit 1/3 to 2/3 of the time
  • Ability to use hands to finger, handle or feel as well as reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl 1/3 of the time
  • Ability to talk or hear over 2/3 of the time
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds 1/3 to 2/3 of the time
  • Close vision and distance vision are also required for this position
