Research, analyze and interpret the past. The historian's research provides insights that help us understand different ways in which individuals and groups make decisions, exercise power and respond to change. Historians use many sources of information during their research, including government and institutional records, newspapers and other periodicals. Historians also use photographs, interviews, films and unpublished manuscripts, such as personal diaries and letters, in their research. They collect facts, opinions and other information.
