Lynn Affiliated Programs

Irish American University (IAU) in Dublin, Ireland

Established in 1993 and affiliated with Lynn University, Irish American University offers degrees in several disciplines, maintaining an array of course offerings within the fields of business, hospitality management and psychology. Terms of study include semesters in the fall and spring as well as summer programs.

Irish American University has many unique features:

  • IAU is located in the heart of Dublin on Merrion Square.
  • Part of the university campus consists of the Square’s distinguished Georgian houses, including the childhood home of Oscar Wilde.
  • The university is accredited by the Higher Education Training and Awards Council (HETAC), the state body responsible for third level education and training institutions in Ireland.
  • Semester programs are designed to carry 12 to 15 credit hours, while summer programs carry six to 12 credit hours.
  • Optional IAU short-term programs in Ireland and Italy are offered during all terms of study.
Shanghai Program

The university is jointly administering its Shanghai program with CET Academic Programs during the January Term and spring semester. Lynn’s Shanghai program focuses on globalization in China, and while living in Shanghai, students will have the unique opportunity to learn firsthand about the challenges and successes China has faced.

The full-immersion Shanghai program offers several opportunities for students:

  • Students live on the campus of Donghua University with a local roommate.
  • The program includes courses on the Mandarin language and culture.
  • Courses focusing on globalization, as well as a course developed by a Lynn University professor, are offered to students in the program.
  • Students participate in a local internship while studying in Shanghai.

Short-Term Faculty-Led Academic Programs Abroad

Colleges in the university host short-term programs during the January Term and other times in the academic year that introduce students to the host country and provide opportunities for experiential learning.

Students have participated in a rich variety of academic programs abroad:

  • Business students have traveled to China to study their unique business practices.
  • Psychology students compared mental health practices in Thailand and Cambodia.
  • Hospitality students discovered the art of authentic Italian cuisine in Sicily.
  • Communication students examined how cultural factors influence mass media in London.
  • Education students learned about various styles of education in South Africa.
  • Liberal education students examined the interaction between business, political and social environments in Argentina.

Previous academic programs abroad have also taken place in Australia, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Switzerland, England, Scotland, Italy, Portugal, Morocco, Belgium, Luxembourg, Spain and many more locations around the world.
