The Core Curriculum: Dialogues of Learning
About Lynn's innovative approach to general education
Lynn’s general education curriculum – The Dialogues of Learning – is a relevant, integrated and intensive 4-year curriculum that recognizes your distinct interests, engages you in conversations that cross disciplinary boundaries and fosters an understanding of both the United States and global communities – no matter what your major is or what degree you are pursuing.
- Classes are taught in a seminar format.
- Seminars include critical thinking, communication skills, information literacy and technological literacy.
- Dialogues of Learning seminars are structured in 3 phases:
Foundational: first 2 years, ideas, people, concepts, great works, etc. essential to a liberal arts education.- Transformational: years 3 and 4, higher levels of skills acquisition and application.
- Integrative/capstone: years 3 and 4, seminars increasingly integrated with major fields of study with higher levels of skills acquisition and application.
- You must complete 4 courses focused on the American experience and 4 courses designated as global studies.
- You may start courses in your major as early as your very first semester.
